Air-Launched Expendable Decoy Nickname “Little Buddy”
RI&S’s ALE-50 is a towed decoy that delivers a critical end-game electronic countermeasure by luring incoming missiles away from the aircraft with a larger radar cross-section. It can be installed and operated on virtually any airborne platform without modification.
Air crews refer to this system as “Little Buddy” because it has combat-proven success saving their lives against radio frequency (RF) missile threats in multiple theaters.
