Joint Precision Approach and Landing System
RI&S’s Joint Precision Approach and Landing System, or JPALS, is a software-based, high-integrity differential GPS-based precision landing system that guides crewed aircraft to safe landing aboard carrier and amphibious assault ships in all weather and surface conditions.
It uses an encrypted, jam-proof data link to connect to software and receiver hardware on the aircraft to an array of GPS sensors, mast-mounted antennas and shipboard equipment.
